GONZALES — Gonzales Lions Club celebrated Father’s Day on Sunday by hosting a free community breakfast at the American Legion Hall in Gonzales.
The breakfast included pancakes fresh off the grill, eggs, sausages, fruit and, of course, coffee and orange juice.
“We enjoy serving the community of Gonzales and we are happy to be able to host this community breakfast on Father’s Day,” said Lions Club President Minnie Flores. “This is the second year in a row we had the free breakfast, and it is so nice to be able to meet new people and to hear the stories they have to tell.”
The Lions Club has been active recently, starting with its Spring Fling Bake and Raffle, a Club Charities Vendor Event and the Gonzales High School Awards Night, where it presented four scholarships to graduating seniors.
The Lions Club contributes to the local Food Pantry and the City of Hope Research for Cancer Program. Other events the Lions Club will be involved in this summer is a Fourth of July Hot Dog Sale and helping with the A.J. Robinson Mobile Unit.
