Taylor Farms Family Health and Wellness Center projected expansion of the facility

GONZALES — Taylor Farms Wellness Center is planning to expand its building and services, and officials approached the Gonzales City Council on June 18 with their plans for the upgraded facility.

The Central California Alliance for Health Medi-Cal Capacity Grant is aiding the Taylor Farms Wellness Center because its overseen by the Salinas Valley Medical Healthcare System, which secured a grant from the Central California Alliance for Health, and the facility was selected as a site that would comply with the grant objectives.

“There’s been an identified need for specialty care access in South County,” said Clint Hoffman, chief administrative officer of Salinas Valley Memorial Health Care System. “What we’d like to do is leverage a large network of providers that we’ve assembled in Salinas Valley Medical Clinic and bring some of that speciality and services to South County.”

According to Hoffman, the Salinas Valley Medical Clinic has 115 physicians practicing 18 different specialities.

The focus targets for care are cardiology, pulmonology, behavioral health and potentially additional diabetes education resources.

The aim of the grant is to provide access to health care providers and increase the capacity of the Wellness Center. Currently the Taylor Farms Family Health and Wellness Center is 6,400 square feet and the facility would like to expand another 12,800 square feet that would include additional parking for patients and medical personnel.

Taylor Farms Family Health Wellness Center is planning to present its expansion with schematic design and construction documents to the Gonzales City Planning Commission next, and then begin to receive funding approval from the Central California Alliance for Health in September.

Construction would begin in January, with an opening planned for December 2019.
