SOUTH COUNTY — Track and field teams from Gonzales and Soledad competed in a cluster meet at Pacific Grove and the Greenfield and King City teams completed in a cluster meet at Carmel on March 29. The defending Mission Trail Athletic League champion King City boys team won all eight dual meets and the Greenfield Bruin boys won four dual meets.

The King City girls claimed six dual meets wins and the Greenfield girls won three dual meets at Carmel. At Pacific Grove the Soledad boys team had two wins and a loss, and the Gonzales boys had one win. The Soledad girls team finished with two wins.

Boys team scores at Carmel were: King City 108, Greenfield 20; King City 126, Trinity Christian 2; King City 123, Anzar 5; King City 95, Carmel 41; King City 112, Marina 26; King City 126, Oakwood 2; King City 126, Pacific Collegiate 2; King City 114, York 19. Greenfield 68, Anzar 16; Greenfield 73, Oakwood 7; Greenfield 57, Pacific Collegiate 23; Greenfield 55, Trinity Christian 25.

Girls team scores at Carmel were: King City 117, Greenfield 9; King City 87, Marina 37; King City 98, Oakwood 32; King City 99, Pacific Collegiate 28; King City 124, Trinity Christian 0; King City 124, York 0. Greenfield 35, Anzar 20; Greenfield 41, York 23; Greenfield 4, Trinity Christian 9.

Boys scores at Pacific Grove were: Soledad 74, Pacific Grove 56; Soledad 86, Gonzales 49.5; Soledad 84, Stevenson 39; Soledad 76, Gonzales 46. Girls scores were: Soledad 84, Stevenson 39; Soledad 76, Gonzales 46; Pacific Grove 76, Soledad 59; Pacific Grove 94, Gonzales 38.

At Carmel Bryce McEwen of King City placed first in the 200 and second in the 100 meters; the Mustang 4 x 400 relay team placed first with a time of 3:45, Max Pallas won the 400; Dominic Conricode placed first in the 110 hurdles and Jhames Bautista placed first in the 300 hurdles. In the field events Kevin Pena placed first in the triple jump; Ashton Headley won the shot put; Dylan Oliveros placed first in the long jump; and Jose Santos placed first in the discus. Greenfield’s Luis Meza won the 1600 for the Bruins.

Kajara Rodgers was a winner for the King City girls in the 200 and was a member of the winning 4 x 100 relay team. Jalen Mendez was first in the triple jump and Stephanie Politron won the girls discus event.

At Pacific Grove the Aztec boys Jesus Rodriguez was first in the 400 and Ulises Camarena won the 110 and 300 hurdles, and the 4 x 100 relay also placed first. Pablo Villasenor of Gonzales was a double winner in the shot put and discus.

There will not be any MTAL track meets this week until April 12 when King City High will host the Valley Cluster Meet at War Memorial Stadium.
