SOLEDAD — All five local Little League All-Stars teams were beaten in the semi-finals of the California District 9 section.

The 7-9 year-olds from Soledad were beaten 13-3 last Wednesday by Hollister-American at King City Little League, and the Soledad 8-10 year-olds lost 9-3 to Atlantic Little League at the Continental Little League fields.

“I was really proud of the kids as they played their hearts out,” said Soledad 7-9 Manager Cesar Lopez. “I want to thank the parents for their support of the kids and of the Little League program.”

Soledad had earned a spot in the semi-finals by defeating King City 20-2. Anthony Aguilera was a key in the middle of the lineup for Soledad and Ethan Sanchez, Nathaniel Razo, and Ivan Gonzalez did the pitching for the win.

The Soledad 8-10 year-olds played well in the loss to Atlantic and had won the Tournament of Championship title.

“It was a tough game,” said Soledad Manager Henry Tavarez. “Anthony Media pitched three innings,  Anikan Tavarez pitched three innings and Daniel Valenzuela pitched an out in the sixth inning. Alfredo Aguilera, Evan De La Rosa and Daniel Valenzuela were hitting standouts. Our bats were cold and we made a few errors in the game. I am still proud of the effort and determination all the players gave.”

In other All-Star semi-final games played last week the King City 9-11 year-olds were beaten 18-3, by the Hollister-National team, the Gonzales 11-12 year-olds lost 15-6 against Hollister-American at Hartnell Little League, and the King City Junior Little League team ended the season with a 11-5 setback against Ferrasci.
