SAN ARDO — Local oil company Aera Energy is making the holidays brighter for four San Ardo families, including 15 children ranging in ages from 5 months to 15.

On Dec. 18, the families received armloads of gifts, with each child receiving clothing as well as a toy. Jackets, pants, blankets, games, dolls, radio-controlled cars and even a skateboard, bike and helmet were among the gifts provided by Aera employees.

“This is a special project for us. Our employees and other oilfield workers really opened their hearts to these local families,” said Kathy Miller, Aera public affairs coordinator in San Ardo. “Helping families, such as these, is just one of the many ways we work to strengthen the community. Knowing we made a difference, especially at this time of the year, is heartwarming.”

The employees purchased, wrapped and delivered the gifts. The families also received holiday treats as well as warm blankets, towels and other household necessities. One family needed a microwave, which Aera provided.

San Ardo Union Elementary School District recommended the families who could use extra support, and Aera was pleased to “adopt” them.

“The school district is extremely fortunate to have such caring partners who are committed to the families in our community,” said Catherine Reimer, superintendent and principal of San Ardo Union Elementary School District. “During the holiday season, when times can be difficult for many of our families, it means a great deal to be remembered by others. I know the families are truly grateful for the gifts and household necessities they received from Aera.”
