GONZALES — “The Wizard of Oz” production led local business D & M Lowbed Services Inc. to donate $250 to the Fairview Middle School drama class.

The Gonzales Unified School District Board of Trustees approved the donation during its meeting April 8.

“Education is a field that will always have the need for improvement,” Superintendent Yvette Irving said. “Educators continue to strive to improve ways to help our students learn and to provide them with a variety of extracurricular activities.”

The Gonzales Youth Community Musical Theatre is a collaboration between the City of Gonzales and Gonzales Unified School District to give youth a safe place to express themselves and have fun at the same time.

“The Wizard of Oz” was the third production for the theater organization.
