SALINAS — Hartnell Community College District is gearing up for its Fifth Annual Athletics Hall of Fame 2017 on Saturday, Nov. 4, at 411 Central Ave., in Salinas, and seeks nominations for the next class of inductees.

“We launched the Hartnell College Athletics Hall of Fame in 2013 as a way to honor and recognize the contributions of individuals and teams to that legacy,” shared Superintendent/President Dr. Willard Lewallen.

Hartnell College has a rich athletic tradition and long history of success that spans over the past 83 years, producing well over 15,000 student-athletes who have not only achieved success in the athletic arena but also in the classroom and beyond.

“This year we will induct the fifth class and I look forward to honoring this distinguished group of Panthers,” added Dr. Lewallen.

“As of today, we have recognized 55 individuals and teams.”

Hartnell College Athletics seeks nominations from the community at large to identify those special individuals who left a mark in Hartnell Athletics.

“We are proud to acknowledge the incredible student-athletes, coaches, officials, teams, volunteers and supporters who have made outstanding contributions to our institution,” said Director of Athletics Dan Teresa.

The nomination form and guidelines are available on the Hartnell Athletics webpage hartnellpanthers.com/Tradition/Hall_of_Fame.

Deadline for submissions is May 5.

The Hall of Fame inductees will be selected by the Athletics Hall of Fame Committee comprised of retired Hartnell faculty and coaches, Hartnell staff and volunteers.
