GONZALES — City of Gonzales’ Alta Street Pavement Rehabilitation project recently received the Project of the Year award from the Monterey Bay Chapter of the American Public Works Association.

The repavement project, completed last May, was part of a collaborative effort between the City of Gonzales, Harris and Associates and Granite Construction to overhaul Alta Street to better handle the heavy truck use. Alta Street is the key entry to the Agricultural Industrial Business Park, which houses several agriculture-related businesses.

The $5 million project was aided in funding by the Transportation Agency for Monterey County through Measure X funds, which are earmarked to fund transportation safety and mobility projects in the county.
