GONZALES — Adventure Seeking Seniors of Gonzales recently gathered at American Legion Post 81 to kick off this year’s monthly events.

About 70 participants enjoyed a traditional Thanksgiving meal with turkey and all the trimmings Nov. 18 as well as played bingo and worked on craft projects.

Hope Cota, Rosa Gantes, Sister Teresita and many others helped organize, serve and decorate for the special event. Preparing the food were Jean Salcido, Lupe Kinnear, Mona Santillanes, Marilyn Duby and Mary Hoagland.

“A wonderful time of fellowship and good food was enjoyed by all,” said Hoagland, a member of the Adventure Seeking Seniors organizing group.

Funding for the event was provided through Measure K, a grant from the City of Gonzales. The grant funding came in last February.

“Our goal is to have seniors engage in fellowship through motivation and companionship and provide stimulating activities,” Hoagland said. “We will be having a Christmas event at the American Legion on Dec. 9, and we can’t wait for that event.”
